The Department of Microbiology, Khwaja Yunus Ali University (KYAU), successfully organized the 2nd Microbe’s Club Election 2026 on April 21, 2026, ensuring a transparent, inclusive, and well-structured democratic process for the selection of student leaders.
As part of the electoral process, all candidates presented their election manifestos, outlining their vision, mission, and proposed activities for the development of the Microbes Club. These manifestos emphasized academic enrichment, research engagement, skill development, and the promotion of cultural and extracurricular initiatives, enabling voters to make informed and thoughtful decisions.
To uphold the integrity of the election, a three-layer governance system was implemented, comprising an election observer team, a presiding officer team, and polling agents. The observer team, led by senior faculty members, supervised pre-election preparations, monitored campaigning, and ensured compliance with established guidelines. The presiding officer team managed voting operations, maintained discipline, and ensured confidentiality, while polling agents facilitated voter verification and smooth execution at the operational level.
The election saw active participation from students across multiple batches, reflecting strong engagement and interest in leadership within the department. The process concluded with transparent vote counting and immediate result declaration under the supervision of the chief election commissioner.
An 11-member executive committee was elected to lead Microbe’s Club for 2026, with Md. Newas Sharif (16th batch) as president, Choyon Kumar Mohonto (17th batch) as vice-president, and Asaduzzaman Shah (16th batch) as general secretary. The newly formed committee comprises a diverse cohort of students committed to advancing academic, cultural, and extracurricular initiatives within the department.
This initiative highlights the Department of Microbiology’s commitment to fostering student leadership, organizational governance, and participatory culture, strengthening its position as a dynamic and student-centered academic environment.
