Khwaja Yunus Ali University (KYAU) organised an international workshop on “Claude Code for Research and DataScrut for Academic Assessment” on Monday, 19 October 2026. The workshop was organised by the university’s Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI) to enhance faculty members’ knowledge and skills in AI-assisted research, data analysis, and technology-enhanced academic assessment.

The workshop was conducted by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri bin Ibrahim, P.Eng., P.Tech., CEng (UK), MIET, from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Malaysia. The event was scheduled to take place from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM in Room No. 211 of the university’s Administrative Building.

The workshop focused on the application of artificial intelligence in academic and research activities particularly AI-assisted coding, data analysis and the development of efficient research workflows. It also addressed the use of DataScrut for academic assessment including analysing student assignments, tracing students’ work and effort, and understanding the use of AI in academic submissions.

The workshop provided an opportunity for faculty members to explore emerging digital tools and consider their potential applications in research, teaching and assessment. It also highlighted the importance of using AI responsibly and effectively to support academic integrity, improve assessment practices and strengthen research productivity in higher education.

To facilitate faculty members’ participation the university requested all faculty members to reschedule their classes, if necessary, to attend the workshop. The initiative reflects KYAU’s commitment to promoting research excellence, faculty development, technological innovation, and the continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices.

The workshop was organised under the guidance of Dr. Fazle Rabbi Shakil Ahmed, Dean of the School of Biomedical & Life Sciences, on behalf of the Centre for Research and Innovation, Khwaja Yunus Ali University.

Through this international academic engagement, KYAU continues to encourage knowledge exchange and the adoption of innovative approaches to research and higher education, creating opportunities for faculty members to develop their professional competencies in an increasingly AI-enabled academic environment.
