Khwaja Yunus Ali University (KYAU) proudly celebrates the remarkable international achievement of Junan Nahian Niloy, a student of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), who won the prestigious Gold Award at the WSDG Challenge 2026 International Round held in Malaysia. Competing against participants from more than 25 countries, Junan’s innovative project, “MangoRO,” earned international recognition for its practical and human-centered approach to robotics.
MangoRO is a cost-effective and portable AI-powered Personal Companion and Assistant Robot designed to facilitate intelligent and interactive human–robot communication. The system integrates artificial intelligence, computer vision, facial recognition, real-time emotional expressions, and voice-based interaction. Beyond technological innovation, MangoRO demonstrates significant potential in education and social care, particularly for supporting children in learning and assisting elderly or socially isolated individuals.
The project was carried out under the guidance of F. M. Javed Mehedi Shamrat, Assistant Professor and Head of the CSE Department, and Md. Hasibur Rahman, Lecturer, CSE, KYAU. This achievement reflects KYAU’s commitment to fostering innovation, practical learning, and globally competitive technological solutions.
